Education is the word that has the highest value, it has changed the perspective of people to see the world. Through this, they bring changes in their life and the other people lives who surround them.
There is a quote which is like this, ” Education does not mean teaching people to know that they don’t know, it means teaching them to behave as they do not behave”. Education is not about briefing something it is more than that, it teaches us how to interact? how to adapt? how to compromise? how to understand ourselves and much more.

For that, the Indian Government has made many departments through which they implement standard rules and norms. The ministry of education is the head of the education policies implemented in the country and was established in the year 1947, its name just changes into the ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) by Rajiv Gandhi. The head office of this is in New Delhi This is the department which is divided into two other departments. The one is a department of school education and literacy and another one is a department of higher education, Both the department plays vital roles in imparting education throughout the country.

This is one of the vital departments which concerns the education of the children and their growth. As the root of the tree is strong and healthy then it gives sweeter fruit and withstands storms this is similar to education too. If the education on the base of the children will strong then they don’t face any problem in the future regarding understanding things and don’t speak or interpret about the things they know or they learned. Through, this opporunities like schemes, policies, scholarship will be provided to the students, so they come forward to become part of schools. Even mid day meal initiative was started by this organisation to provide food in school to the children, to increase in the enrollment of children in the school.
Schemes under Department of School Education and Literacy
Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan
This is the scheme which is launched in the union budget of 2018-2019. This is approved for the improvement in the education of the children between pre-school to the intermediate class. Through this students get equal opportunities and will increase the rate of learning outcomes. There are sub-schemes that come under this scheme that are
- Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan
- Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan
- Teacher education
Through this programme, there will develop in the individual sector of education and there will be a uniformity in the central, state and district departments. Also, the cost estimation and implementation of norms and policies in education will become easier. And the interaction between state, district and sub-district on level of education field will become better. Focus and development in practical knowledge of subjects on the basic level which enhance the education and the resources which are provided will use by the children effectively.
The objective of this scheme plan are :
- Improve and enhance the quality education on the base level.
- Increase the rate of learning and evaluation of the outcomes of it.
- Eliminate the gap between education and children.
- Bring opportunities, resources and much more for the development of children education.
- Give support to the states to implement the right of children to free and compulsory education act.
- Enhance and upgrade the other departments like DIET and SCERTs for teacher training and education.
The departments which focus on children education are:
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education)
It is board which is established in the year, 1962. It is for both private and public schools all the matter regarding this will be handle by the central government of India. There are up to 21,271 schools which comes up under this board and 228 schools which are in foreign countries. All the schools comes under this board are of central government like kendriya vidhyalaya sangathan, NVs and all others. Only ncert curricullam is followed under the cbse board.
NCERT (National Council of Education Research and Training)
It is organisation which was established under the act of societies registration of 1961 by the government of India. The moto of this organisation is to make uniformity in education across India through which all the diversity can come under one roof. They also published books for the elementary and senior – secondary schools.
CTSA (Central Tibetan School Administration)
It is a department establish under the guidance of ministry of education, the formation of this occurred in the year, 1961. The role of this school is to give opportunities to the children living in tibetan areas in the field of education. There are total 71 tibetan schools across India through this they will promote their culture and preserve their heritage.
KVS (Kendriya Vidhyalaya Sangathan)
It is the schools which are established by the central government. The reason of establishment of this school is for defence personals children, As in the defence, the person get transferred across India, Due to which their children face lots of problem in their education. For eliminate this, the establishment of this school occurred. The India there are 1248 schools and three are in foreign countries and it has 25 regional offices.
NCTE (National Council of Teacher Education)
NCTE was established in the year, 1993 under the act of national council of teacher education. The role of this deparmtent is to see and handle all the matters regarding teacher education and enhancement of the education system.
Under the Indian national policy on education this department was established in the year, 1986. Through this, construction of elementary and senior-secondary will takes place in rular area. Tha aim for this, is to give opportunities to those children who lives in rular areas and getting education is a difficult tasks for them.
NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling)
It is also a government department established in the year, 1986 under the policy of national education. This department provide courses which will be on field of life enrichment, community oriented and vocational courses for the students who are studying in elementary classes or in senior-secondary classes. Along with that, they also provide schooling of elementary classes to those students who are those places where education is hard to find. It also provide courses which are the level of degree and on the field of business, technical, historical etc.
NFTW (National Foundation of Teachers Welfare)
It is the national foundation which is established by the government in the year, 1962. This organisation give financial support to those teacher who do not have good financial stability. This financial help is for teacher children who wants to study engineering, medical, law and management. There is a relief in the fee or scholarship will be provided to them.
